Happy Friday, gals!! This week seemed to really drag and I blame it mostly on this crazy weather we have been having. One day it looked like Elsa from Frozen came through, the next we are having thunderstorms, and now we are back to ice and snow! I don't know about you, but I am more than ready for spring. There is just something about hearing the birds chirp in the morning and the smell of fresh air.
Since moving to the north, it has been so hard transitioning my wardrobe, but I think I am getting it! It seems like we really don't have a spring or fall because it goes form hot to cold and cold to hot so it can be tricky when planning what to wear for the day. If you are in the same boat as me, I think I have a few tips to help a girl out! I am not a pro whatsoever so please be kind! HA!
So, what I have found to help transition is switching from cozy(thick) cardigans to flowy(thin) cardigans. The one pictured above is perfect to transition! Thanks to Suite 41 Boutique for sending me this. It's SO beautiful! This helps when the temps are a little cooler in the morning, but become warmer in the afternoon. You can also pair your flowy cardi with a thin long sleeve tee for a little extra warmth or if it's going to be a little warmer, just go with a tee. Cardigans are such a huge staple item in my closet because you can literally wear them year round!
I have found that wearing cute sweatshirts or thinner sweaters are a great option if cardigans are not your thing. Having a warm coat during the winter in the north is a must but they can be too warm for spring. A lightweight jacket is your friend if you are wearing a top that still requires a little warmth when you are outside. Utility jackets are really in right now! I have my eye on this blush one, go figure! ;)
You might as well give up shorts because those aren't coming out til at least May if you live in the northern states. I just stick with denim and leggings. I think dresses are ok especially if they are long sleeve or if you pair it with a cardigan/blazer. This is the same for skirts. Pairing the dress or skirt with booties is perfect for a little extra warmth.
Since we are bringing up shoes, that is such a tough one for me because as soon as the weather hits 60 degrees or higher, I am bringing out my Tory Burch sandals(the pair shown in picture above) and it's hard for me to switch back to my snow boots! The first couple of years, I made the mistake of wearing sandals when the temps were going to reach 60 that day and my feet were cold all day because it didn't get 60 til late afternoon. My preference is just waiting til the temps are cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Perforated booties are a great option if you are looking to switch up your shoe game for spring!
I hope these tips helped out a little. These are just my preferences and I am sure every woman is different! Hope you have a great weekend!
XOXO,
Jen Miracle
